A tall, genuine polished tiger's eye obelisk, faceted to a sharp point and showing beautifully contrasting bands of colour along its length — rich golden-brown tiger's eye with its signature silky chatoyancy on one face, deepening into darker blue-grey hawk's eye banding on the other. Turning the piece in the light reveals a shifting, almost liquid sheen across every band.
Tiger's eye and hawk's eye are both varieties of chatoyant quartz, formed as fibrous crocidolite is replaced by silica; tiger's eye carries the classic golden-brown colouring, while hawk's eye retains a cooler blue-grey tone. Having both in one piece makes this a particularly striking, one-of-a-kind specimen.
