Genuine natural moldavite — a rare tektite formed roughly 15 million years ago when a meteorite impact melted and ejected terrestrial material, which cooled into glass as it fell back to earth. Genuine moldavite is found in only one place on the planet: the Moldau (Vltava) river valley in the Czech Republic, giving the stone its name.
