A raw, natural malachite specimen with a dense, soft, felt-like "velvet" surface texture rather than the sliced-and-polished banding malachite is often seen in. Rather than being cut and polished, this piece showcases its natural fibrous, needle-like (acicular) crystal growth, capped in a brilliant leaf-green velvet crust, with chrysocolla and azurite matrix accents running through the base.
The colouring shows a striking contrast between the bright fibrous green top crust and a deeper botryoidal (bubbly) emerald and blue-green base structure along the lower edges and sides, where the chrysocolla and azurite influence comes through most strongly.
Please note: malachite is a soft stone and should be handled with care, kept away from prolonged sunlight, and not used in elixirs or placed in water as it can release copper compounds.
